Edinson Cavani’s 2021/22 season at Manchester United has been severely impacted by injuries and it now appears he will miss at least one more game after picking up a calf issue while on international duty with Uruguay.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star has made just seven starts in all competitions this campaign, scoring two goals.
Before the international break he missed plenty of games for United due to a thigh issue, but the new problem is with his calf, which he hurt when Uruguay played Chile in a World Cup qualifier midweek.
There is more positive news surrounding Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba, as although they were reported to have suffered minor injuries while away with France, they are both set to be involved for Man Utd against Leicester.
David de Gea will start in goal, with Diogo Dalot, Varane, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw in defence.
Maguire has received scathing criticism for his performances this season and was even booed by some England fans during the week, but he’ll retain his place in the starting XI under Ralf Rangnick.
Fred has had to travel back from South America with Brazil so he might start on the bench, which should allow for Pogba to come into central midfield to partner Scott McTominay.
Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho will likely support Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.
