Brentford travelled to Stamford Bridge on Saturday expecting a tough task against a side chasing Champions League qualification. But former Spurs man Christian Eriksen was on hand to give a boost to his former club, scoring to make it 2-1 before Vitaly Janelt and Yoane Wissa scored to make the score 4-1.

Bryan Mbuemo broke forward with pace, drawing the attention of the Chelsea defence, leaving Eriksen in space on the right hand side to score.

The Dane has recently made his return to football after suffering a cardiac arrest during last year’s Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland at Parken Stadium.

The goal is crucial in the race for the top four, with Chelsea leading the chasing pack and any defeat on Saturday potentially opening the door open for Tottenham to make inroads into the Champions League race.

Eriksen scored in Tottenham’s last win at Stamford Bridge in 2018 and Twitter user TheSpursExpress, reacting to the goal, tweeted: “Eriksen scores at the Bridge! Not for the first time.”

User Rrrobbiegg replied to the tweet claiming that it was enough to bring Eriksen back to North London, they wrote: “Bring him back, I’ve seen enough.”

Another user, HemightbeNoah also reacted, saying: “The no 23 is still available” while Ndombolo20 tweeted their views on a potential return for the Dane, they wrote: “Even I have changed my mind I would actually take him back.”
