Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola provides fresh Ruben Dias injury update before Burnley

Pep Guardiola has been speaking to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Manchester City’s next outing.

The Sky Blues will take on Burnley at 3 pm UK time on Saturday the 2nd of April. Ahead of the game, Guardiola held his latest pre-match press conference on Friday.

When conducting his presser, the Spaniard would provide an injury update on Ruben Dias.

The Portuguese has missed Man City’s last three matches and, according to Pep, is expected to be out for around another 10-14 days: “We have still nine games to play. We will go game by game. We know what we have to do.

“We have to win games. It will be difficult, but we try. Ruben [Dias] and Cole Palmer are out. The rest are fit. He is out. I don’t know. The doctor said for four to six weeks. We need 10 days or two weeks more. The plan depends on the players when I saw them for the training today and yesterday.”

Burnley vs Manchester City

Manchester City head into the Burnley game knowing they must win to ensure they are able to maintain top spot in the Premier League.

The Citizens have dominated the English top-flight once again this term. However, a loss to Tottenham and a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace has allowed Liverpool to gain some ground on City.

Now, Jurgen Klopp’s side sit just one point adrift of Man City after 29 gameweeks, meaning one more slip up could prove fatal to City’s title hopes.

However, it does seem very, very unlikely that Manchester City will drop any points this weekend.

Burnley have won just three league games in 2021/22 and also have a pretty dismal record against the top clubs.

Vs Man City, for example, the Clarets have not pickled up a win since March 14th, 2015. And in the 14 meetings between the two sides since, the Manchester powerhouse have picked up a staggering 13 victories.
