After more than a decade on TV, The Walking Dead has devoured its last brain shot its final scene. Shooting on the eleventh and final season of the most-watched TV series in basic cable history wrapped in Atlanta on Wednesday, and star Norman Reedus was on hand to deliver what was reportedly an emotional speech to the gathered cast and crew.
“This is so surreal,” Reedus said in a brief clip obtained by TMZ. The fan-favorite star, who plays Daryl Dixon and has been with the show since the beginning, said he was asked “is the juice worth the squeeze.”
“The Walking Dead juice has always been worth the squeeze,” he told the gathered crowd.
The final season of the show is being split into three parts, with the second piece of the arc airing now.
On Instagram Thursday, Reedus shared a tribute to the final day, writing, “That’s a wrap. 11 seasons 12 years. Never been so beat up and it was an absolute blast. Thank you to all of you that took this ride with us and what a ride it was.”
He included video of an original piece of songwriting with co-star Melissa McBride, singing “Carol is sterile and Daryl is feral, a match made in hell,” of their characters.
Executive producer Greg Nicotero posted a short clip of himself and Reedus to his own Instagram on Thursday, where the actor thanks him and says “I feel like my entire brain is short-circuiting right now.”
“I’ll be on the bathroom floor with a martini in tears,” Reedus adds of his post-shoot plans.
