Codenamed REVO, the joint project will suggestively be for revving or accelerating their mutual EV plans. A group of senior executives from both Mahindra and Tata Motors have been roped in to build REVO in quick time, the CarandBike.com report suggests.
The report further said that the vehicle development for the REVO project is expected to focus on a compact SUV sized vehicle, which is not yet launched by either Mahindra or Tata. Though, both auto majors has teased concepts of Electric SUV cars but the physical SUV models is missing in the market and missing from both the companies’ portfolios.
Mahindra has teased three new electric SUVs which will make debut in July 2022. Tata, on other hand, has just posted teaser over twitter about an Electric SUV Concept, which will be announced on 6th April.
Besides, Tata has also showed a Sierra concept EV at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo, Mahindra is rumoured to have already begun work on a compact vehicle on the W601 platform, tipped to be the XUV400.
Design responsibilities of REVO will likely fall on Mahindra & Mahindra, whereas the engineering and vehicle proving will likely be headed by Tata’s EV line team.
Product strategy is expected to be shaped by the top leadership at both companies.
The business head will likely be Vidyut Vahankar who has recently relocated from California’s Bay Area and joined Mahindra Electric. Apparently, Twitter profile of Vahankar shows that he is also an E-in-C (Editor-in-Chief) at CarandBike.com, the original source of this report, thus quantifying the genuineness of this news of REVO project.
Project REVO’s chief spokesperson will be Indravajr Bijuria, who is from Tata Power, also a part of Tata Group.
